Creeping into Bancroft House as dawn broke was not the most brilliant idea Isaac had ever been gifted with. He counted himself lucky Edmund was not an early riser. Dodging Bradley and the other servants should be easy enough once he'd gotten in through the kitchen. He paused outside the servant's entrance, ears straining. He wondered if they all knew he hadn't returned home last night.

He'd had no choice, really. After he and Gideon had dressed, barely presentable, they'd hailed a hackney and Gideon had tossed several coins at the driver, telling him there would be more to be made if he delivered them quickly to their destination. They traded kisses in the cabin until Isaac's lips were sore and Gideon's had been full and red in the lamplight, stark against his pale skin. Isaac hadn't been able to keep from touching them, and then Gideon had sucked at his fingers, teased him with teeth and tongue.

And then finally they had reached Gideon's spread of rooms. Isaac had no idea what they looked like, or even where he had been until the morning came. Proving himself the wanton, as if Isaac had room left for doubts, Gideon had stripped down and crawled into his lap, found him ready and took him with sinful ease, had stretched that slender body out for him to taste and touch as he liked. Woefully, Isaac wondered what the hell had possessed him to leave Gideon's bed at all. Just one of Gideon's searching kisses had nearly broken his resolve entirely.

"You'd best come inside, Mr. Ashwood," Miss Watson called. "Your bath will be ready in short order."

Isaac sighed. He supposed it didn't matter, really. He was a young gentleman in London. Surely young gentlemen in London were occasionally given to unholy hours and forgiven a night out.

"Thank you, Miss Watson," he said, glad he'd at least taken the time to fix his hair. He kept his distance in case the brisk morning air hadn't swept away the smell of Gideon on his skin. "Lord Bancroft is still abed, I hope?"

Miss Watson smiled knowingly. "He is, sir. No worries now, we know how to hold our tongues. Upstairs with you."

"I'll buy you sweetmeats when Patience next drags me to the market, I promise," he said, ducking quickly into the hall to escape any questions she might ask in payment for such discretion.

Three hours later, rested and refreshed, Isaac strolled casually down Bond Street wracking his brains trying to remember if Patience had said to meet outside the modiste or the chocolatier. Thankfully, he spotted her on a bench near the corner of Bruton Street eating an ice with Chloe. Now that he found her, of course, he hesitated. He hadn't had a chance to tell her of his impending outing with Gideon. Considering how it had turned out, he was glad. It wasn't something he thought he'd be able to discuss.

Which left him in a bit of a bind as to how to not tell her and avoid outright lying at the same time.
